The REME Museum exists to tell the story of the Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). Formed in October 1942, wherever you find the British Army, there you will find REME.

Our mission

  • Preserve the heritage of the Corps
  • Promote a broader understanding of the Corps
  • Provide information to the public, including members of the Corps and researchers
  • Collect, conserve, display and interpret objects related to this mission

What we do

Our unique collection includes objects and archival material from REME’s origins in the Second World War to present day activity. The collection is developed in accordance with our Collections Development Policy and cared for by a team of professionals and volunteers who work to preserve Corps heritage for future generations.

The REME Museum takes pride in providing an excellent experience to every visitor. We are grateful to have been recognised for these efforts for several years since moving to our current location in Lyneham, Wiltshire in 2017.

Our most recent awards are the VisitEngland Welcome 2024-25 and Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2025.
